Personisication Poem: Get Away
Running through the forest
She can hear the trees, They plead her to run faster From what is behind her. Wondering if she might Ever get away. The moon stares her down Silently taunting, Wondering if she will Ever get away She runs as fast as Her feet will take her, Wondering if she can Ever get away. |

This poem is about a girl running through the woods trying to get away from something. All people have something that they are trying to get away from or avoid, for some it may be many small things and for others it could be one large thing. Nonetheless everyone has a few monsters under their beds that they are afraid of. I used personification in most of this poem with the trees and the moon. I also used some imagery in the poem for a bit more pizzazz. |
Imagery Poem: Where the Forbidden Fruit Grows
Where the birds of heaven sing lullabies,
Where flowers of all Colors and shades grow. Where aromas fill the air with A sent strong enough to taste, Where the forbidden fruit grows. A peaceful place to lay your head, A sweet dream that fills your mind’s eye, A place where emotions grow. A place with unmatched beauty, An oasis in the desert of the world, Where the forbidden fruit grows. Where your worries melt away Like ice on a warm day. Where children can grow With no fear of falling. Where life looks beautiful, Where the forbidden fruit grows. |

This poem is a talking about the paradise. I tried to capture what it would be like to live on earth as a paradise with not a care or worry in the world. I wanted to show what the world would be like if it was perfect. Since imagery was the most important aspect of this poem I tried to use imagery as much as I could throughout it. I also used different forms of imagery such as, sight, hearing, taste, and smell. I also had some personification in the poem. |
Found Poem: Made New
The former things
Have passed away, There will be no more morning, No more pain or outcry, Every tear will be Wiped away. All things will Be made new, In the eyes Of God. |

I am very religious and read the Bible often; this is one of my favorite verses. There are many verses in the Bible that are poetic this is one of them. I tried to keep the overall message but changed some words and also the order of the words. I love this verse because it promises that the world will get better and will not always be so full of suffering and pain, but will one day be a paradise again. In my poem I tried to keep the overall meaning but to make the verse into a poem. This poem was taken from the Bible at Revelations 21:4, 5. |
Tongue Twister: The Creeping Claw
The crags are covered
In cracks and crevices Where critters crawl and cry Cowering from the cold Cradled in a cavern Cried a crow, Crunching on crumbs. While creeping in the corner Crept a creeping claw. The claw came out and Clubbed the crow. Then the creeping claw Claimed the crumbs Calling them his own. |

I liked the tongue twister because there was no pattern that was required to wright it. I also liked thinking of unordinary words so that they would fit in the poem. I tried to use a different variety of words so that they would fit with the theme of the poem. I mostly used C and CR sounds in the poem. I used some imagery in the poem to make it more literary. |
List Poem: The People You Love
The people you love,
The ones that pick you up When you have fallen, The ones that care about you When no one else seems to, The ones that tell you what you need to hear When everyone else only tells you what you want, The ones that keep you up When you feel like falling, The ones that see your beauty When you feel ugly, The ones that see your strength When you feel weak, The people you love. |

I personal feel that friends and family are two of the most important parts of our lives. This poem gives some of the reasons that they are so important in our lives. Our friends and family usually bring out the best in us and I feel that that should be brought more to people’s attention. This poem tells some ways that friends and family can help you and make you feel better. I could have listed more but that would not have all fit on one page. |
Photograph Poem: Weighted Down
The snow shines in the light
Like glitter floating in the wind. The light catching it Like moving stars In the night sky. It sticks to the trees Like powdered sugar. The lantern shines Like a beacon in the night. The tree limbs swaying in the wind Tangled and weighted down. |

This poem is describing the picture, which is a snowy night. I love what it looks like when there is a wet, heavy snow that sticks to everything and covers all of the tree branches. When everything is all white and fresh looking I think that it looks beautiful. I mostly described the picture but I have seen this quite a lot lately so I also used a bit of memory. I added some personification and imagery to this poem for added effect. |
